newfound talent from ua!

Blah blah Mrs. Ishihara has collaborated with x brand to bring together a line focused towards young adults for various reasons. We caught up with the fresh faces of the campaign, who are both enrolled in the prestigious UA, to learn about about blah blah blah.

How was your first professional photoshoot? What did you think of the clothes from today?

Zai Kusuke: At first I honestly didn't know what to expect from it all. It was a foreign environment to me but thankfully the support staff today really made me get accustomed and comfortable with it all quickly. With their support, I adapted quickly and I felt like I put my all out there. As for the clothes, I can genuinely say that I would wear this on a daily basis. The material is nice and comfortable and it's presentable without being too flashy as well.

Yui Ishihara: It was really nerve-wracking! Fortunately we were in capable hands which gave us both peace of mind. I wasn't so nervous about the camera aspect as much as the fact that this would be displayed for the world to see. My mom used to dress my sister and I up a lot when we were younger so we spent a lot of time being photographed in the clothes she'd make for us. Luckily she's stopped putting us in matching outfits though.

You both aren't professional models. At least, not yet. What was your reaction like when Mrs. Ishihara asked you to be part of this campaign?

Yui Ishihara: I was really shocked, I didn't expect it at all. Despite spending a lot of time on shoots or at her shows, she always kept her family and work lives separate. I think this shows just how important this collection is to her. She wanted to elevate it into something new and different from her typical wheelhouse so leaned in on those she knows best to help bring about that vision.

Zai Kusuke: Honestly I was excited just due to the sole fact that it was for someone I truthfully care about. I've know Mrs. Ishihara since I was a kid since her and my parents have a close knit relationship. So I've always kind of saw her as an aunt in a way. Seeing as we both have similar quirks and similar vision when it comes to fashion, she thought it would be best to bring me in for her first venture into male clothing wear.

You two have known each other for quite some time and have had a long friendship. How were you able to strengthen one another throughout the shoot? Outside of that, what qualities do you admire in each other?

Zai Kusuke: Coming in, I was obviously not knowing what to expect. However, when I saw that my childhood friend was here, it definitely put my nerves to ease. We've always kind of been around one another and just her presence alone just instills confidence in me. I think the reason why we help strengthen one another is just our competitive spirit. We push one another to our fullest potential and make sure neither of us falls behind which I think will show in the photos. I think the qualities that I find to admire the most is her relentless drive to improve. There's never a time where she doesn't cease to amaze me. Being around those type of individuals can only help with your drive as well. Also her strong firm personality where she has this independence about her.

Yui Ishihara: The thing about Zai is, he always knows the right thing to say to get you back on your feet. Sometimes I have insecurity and can doubt myself. He reminds me that I shouldn't do that; that I should remain focused and steer forward. I've always valued his stubbornness. He has his set of core beliefs that he'll stick to, even if people tell him they're wrong. He's steadfast in his point of view and will never waver.
